Today, I am going to inspire you to drink green juice.
Let me remind you why you want to drink fresh juice in the first place.
Supercharge your metabolism
Fight disease
Improve digestion
Alkalize the body
Boost your energy
Lose weight naturally
Improve your mind and body
Drinking juices made from green vegetables and herbs increases these benefits significantly. Greens are packed with chlorophyll. Chlorophyll has many extra benefits to the above, including the following…
Oxygenates your body
High in antioxidants
Helps form red blood cells(helps deliver that oxygen to your body)
Decreases risk of cancer
Boosts your immune system
Cleans the digestive tract, which then helps to eliminate bad breath
Here is a small list of green vegetables and herbs and the benefits of each of them. Of course there are more herbs and vegetables that you could add to this list. I have chosen ones that I enjoy the taste of when juiced and that are readily available. You may wish to add other greens that you have in your garden or that you enjoy.
Kale– high in iron & calcium, detoxifies the liver
Spinach– nutrient dense with Vitamins A, C, E, K, B6 and promotes healthy skin
Leaf Lettuce– high amount of chlorophyll and iron, calming to the body, high in Vitamin K so has a protective effect on bone health
Wheat or Barley Grass – powerful detoxifier, helps neutralize toxins and environmental pollutants in the body (and much, much more)
Parsley– high in Vitamin C, B12, K & A, reduces blood pressure and is an anti-inflammatory
Cucumber– packed with minerals such as iron, zinc, copper and calcium, diuretic
Celery– high in Vitamin A, B1, B2, B6 & C, also lowers blood pressure and combats cancer
Mint– cleans the blood and promotes digestion
Cabbage– anti-cancer, high levels of calcium, iron, iodine, potassium, sulfur, and phosphorus (this is my least favourite vegetable for juicing but I do juice it because of its properties)
Now that you have reason to start juicing, you may be asking what combinations do I juice that will actually taste good? Good question.
If you are really worried about the taste of green juice, refer to my previous post about the benefits of carrot juice and try the combinations that I suggest there.
Here are more to try.
Celery, spinach, parsley
Cucumber all by itself
Cabbage, celery, parsley
Wheat grass or barley grass all by itself
Cucumber, celery, parsley

To enhance the flavours and to treat your palate, consider juicing and adding one or more of the following to your juice;
-lemon -lime -ginger -garlic -red pepper -beets -basil -cilantro
You could add carrot or apple to all of the combinations as well.
Remember to choose organic produce.
